About Karpuragauram Karunavtaaram (Shivayajurmantra). This short Sanskrit shloka praises Lord Shiva as "camphor-white" (karpura-gauram) and compassionate, seated beside Bhagavati Parvati and wearing the king of serpents as a garland. It is one of the most widely chanted verses in Shiva worship, traditionally recited at the close of the evening aarti in temples and homes across India. Its brevity and gentle melody make it one of the first Sanskrit verses many devotees learn.
