About Aarti Dnyanraja. Aarti Dnyanraja, traditionally attributed to the saint-poet Samarth Ramdas, is the short, much-loved aarti sung in praise of Sant Dnyaneshwar (Jnaneshwar), the thirteenth-century saint-poet of Alandi who wrote the Dnyaneshwari, a Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, before leaving his body at the age of twenty-one. Its three verses hail him as an incarnation of Panduranga whose radiance only the saints can serve, recall Narada and Tumbaru singing before him with a golden plate of lamps, and close with the singer bowing the head at his feet. It is sung with a lit lamp at the end of the daily aarti round in Warkari homes and at the samadhi shrine in Alandi.
